There is.
Having recently returned from living in Ghana, I am currently resting in Connecticut, hatching my dreams for future adventures that include trekking in Vietnam and Cambodia, working in an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, teaching english in Indonesia, getting my Private Pilots license, and couch surfing around Europe. I've discovered that one can sustain themselves very happily in developing countries, on very little money, living in the backpacker community. I have no permanent address, have sold most of my possessions, and rarely know where I'll be in 6 months. I move through the world without a plan, guided by my heart, and constantly watching for serendipitous opportunities.
At a time in life when many women are trapped in the lives they think they must live, in roles they have come to resent, I have resolved to explore the world, connecting with and befriending people from all over the world, ignoring the "they" who define how people should live. As Paulo Coelho says, "Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should live their lives, but none about his or her own."
Find what makes you happy and that is the life you should be living. Be it children and a home, or swimming naked under a full-moon on Koh Phagnan, I fully believe in following your heart and doing what makes you happy, unrestricted by societal standards.
